[ Description ]
An exploration of memory, loss, and presence through design
This project is inspired by memories of my grandmother, who lived with Alzheimer’s disease.
Using images, text, materials, and scent, I attempt to translate the fragmented experience of memory decline into tangible forms. The work includes a set of four hand-bound books, a series of thermochromic posters, and a custom typeface.
Each of the four books archives a different aspect of her life: her living environment, personal objects, spoken words, and our family — together forming a portrait of a life slowly fading.
The posters, printed with thermochromic ink, lose parts of their content when touched or exposed to warmth, mirroring how memories vanish. The typeface features distorted and incomplete characters, reflecting the erosion of language and cognition.
This project is not only about remembering, but about preserving emotion through design before it slips away.
